About the event
Cathy and Tracey-Leigh welcome māmā and their tuahine into a wānanga of connection to te mana o te wāhine.
Over two days both Cathy and Tracey-Leigh will share sacred practices and matauranga that honour the beauty and sacredness of the wharetangata.
Māmā will have the opportunity to explore ruahinetanga (menopause) and tuahine will be encouraged to connect with the sacredness of their ikura. We will korero, move and grow as a collective, just as our tupuna would have.
This wānanga is brought to you by Waitakere Local Board, the only exchange we request is the time and presence of your and your tuahine. More details about what to expect over the two days will be shared once you are registered. Spaces are limited to 20 people in total, tuahine must be aged between 12 and 18 years old.
MāREIkura Rising has been the creation of Tracey-Leigh Te Paa and her journey over the past sixteen years stepping into her ever evolving path as a Māmā, Wahine Māori and an Indigenous Healer and Teacher. Te Uri o Hau - Te Rarawa, Ngāti Whātua ki Kaipara, Waikato, Tūwharetoa, Ngai te Rangi me Ngāti Whakaue.
‘My magic power is helping wāhine remember who they are and the beauty of who and where they come from. I hold space that is powerful and safe, so women feel free to go to the dark and beautiful places that only they can go, spaces only they can heal – knowing and trusting that I’ve got them throughout their process of healing.’
Cathy Livermore is an artist, educator, activist and healer, (Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe, Kāi Tahu, English, Irish, French and northern European) her creative practices are rooted in intercultural spaces of dialogue and collaboration between the land and the people, in performative expressions of humanity and in the potentialities of service, expression and connection offered by new media technologies.
